Whilst at the store, we decided to have a light lunch, so I ordered two hot meat baps along with a bowl of chips to share, & two teas.
The hot meat bap of the day was roast beef, and it was served with onion gravy. But unfortunately when the baps arrived at our table. Hot was certainly not what they were!
The bowl of chips was excellent! Very crisp and piping hot. But I opened my bap, and discovered that the slices of beef were processed thin beef, (we call this type of meat plastic at home) and the onion gravy was cold and congealed!
I'm a chef, so I know what I'm talking about. Food served should all be probed (taken its temperature) to ensure that it is heated to at least 75 Celsius. There was no way this hot meat bap had been anywhere near that temperature!
I fervently believe that the two baps were popped in to the microwave and given twenty seconds to 'heat up'
I suppose that the main problem was my father's & my own expectations. To me ( I serve hot meat baps at my place of work.) I envisaged a joint of meat freshly roasted that day, with slices carved for each order, and then served with a gravy made from the juices from the cooked meat!
I don't think we'll be eating there again in a hurry. Apart from having a very good bowl of chips, and a good mug of tea.
Shame and disappointed!
